- Jason Marks
About the Artist
From a young age, Jason has embraced a deep, lifelong commitment to creativity, eventually finding his true voice in impressionist visual arts. As a self-taught artist residing in Wisconsin, Jason's practice is fueled by a personal mission: to transform the world around him—be it serene seascapes, intricate nature studies, or intimate moments with people—into expressions of profound calm and peace. His signature style gracefully bridges the gap between the camera lens and the paintbrush, resulting in painterly impressionist prints that soothe the soul. Jason achieves this distinct abstract aesthetic through meticulous, hands-on techniques: deliberately applying Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), layering depth with multiple exposure photography, and refining the image with selective lens blur and applied post-processing textures. Jason's sophisticated and calming work resonates deeply with interior designers and individuals seeking truly unique wall art to elevate their corporate and residential environments. If you are drawn to the tranquility of abstract photography or the peacefulness of calming impressionist prints, the full collection is available for viewing and purchase at Fine Art America. He invites you to explore the gallery and discover the perfect piece of painterly serenity for your environment.
Artist Statement
My visual artist practice is a meditation on tranquility. As a self-taught artist, my process is intuitive and driven by passion, focusing on expressing a profound sense of calm and peace within the visual world. My work explores the transitional spaces between reality and memory, transforming familiar subjects—the rhythmic churn of seascapes, the delicate vitality of nature, and the quiet presence of people—into soothing, emotional studies. I approach the camera not as a documentation tool, but as a paintbrush—a philosophy I’ve developed through years of experimentation. My goal is to create impressionist fine art photography that blurs the line between the lens and traditional painting. To achieve this signature aesthetic, I rely on expressive, in-camera techniques, primarily Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and the meticulous layering of multiple exposures. These methods, combined with subtle use of lens blur and the application of delicate post-processing textures, strip away precise detail, allowing the viewer to connect instead with pure color, form, and emotion. Ultimately, my work is an invitation to pause. By distilling scenes into their most essential, fluid components, I hope to offer a visual sanctuary—a moment of serene contemplation that resonates with collectors and brings a quiet, sophisticated energy into any space.
